Delta State in Nigeria is synonymous with high crime, most notably kidnapping as a consequence of troubles in the Niger Delta. Therefore it is little wonder that wealthy individuals take every conceivable precaution to prevent attack against themselves and their family.

Within one such private house, Esimi Technical Systems, a leading systems integrator in the region installed a total of eighteen (18) ACM 1231 cameras providing blanket coverage of the entire property within the walled compound as well as all approach roads to the property. In addition a further five (5) ACM 3401 dome cameras with audio were installed within waiting rooms and visiting rooms.

Since cameras are not permanently manned PTZ cameras were not considered appropriate. Consequently only fixed Megapixel cameras were used to provide the coverage that was needed. These were all sited so as to provide excellent image quality and identification of any person within the property during the day and at night.

All cameras were connected to one high performance 3.2 GHz PC with 4TB hard disk space located in the communications room of the house. Running iCatcher Domain Software, the system provides superb flexibility and ease of use. One permanent client workstation, with of two display monitors, is located in the main bedroom of the house. Further access and control of CCTV cameras is available through Internet Explorer on a multitude of laptops and an iPhone laptops operating on the Wi Fi network. Using VGA amplifiers and extenders and CAT 5 cable, video is also available on a further 5 large flat screen televisions throughout the house.

Remote access is via Satellite is the only method of broadband access available. Whilst temperamental, due to environmental conditions prevalent in the region, this allows the client to access the system whilst on his numerous overseas visits.

The successful implementation of this system has subsequently lead to further similar installations in the region, both in private houses and commercial offices.
